Thermal Creek was contracted to deliver the geothermal field for the new Northern Lakes College High Prairie campus.
MANASC ISAAC Architects designed a sustainable and accessible learning environment. The High Prairie Campus HUB’s design, landscape and architectural components support and demonstrate the College’s vision, mission, design principles and sustainability plan.
The Northern Lakes College Geothermal ground loop heat exchanger was installed by Thermal Creek. We drilled 27 boreholes to a depth of 150m each and grouped them together in a 3 x 9 reverse return header. As a result, this header configuration provides optimal fluid flow.
The project is designed using BIM, and is designed to LEED Silver standards.
The project started in the spring of 2019, with most of the outside work completed by the fall of that year.
The inside work was done in 2020. The pandemic brought some unique challenges, as the project was far out of town, and hotels were closing. We ended up renting RV's on campsites to complete the work.
