Net-Zero Infill

Net-Zero infill in Calgary
Mount Pleasant Net Zero

Split-Level without Gas

An Energy Neutral (or Net-Zero) home  would be the ultimate goal for the owner of this 2,200 sqft two-storey infill. Geothermal, tight insulation and a few solar panels got him very close.

The geothermal system features one of NORDIC’s innovative EMW-Series heat pumps. This heat pump integrates the water-to-water heat pump with buffer tank and back-up functions all in one.

The project also uses a product called Warmboard for main and upper floor. This subfloor type system has routing built-in for the infloor lines and works extremely well with geothermal.

Interesting facts

This house was one of the first we worked on that incorporated a fully legal secondary basement suite. The concept of geothermal radiant in-floor heating pairs well with the legal suite as it easily allows for separate heating control in the basement suite.
